Creating a successful career in the arts is no mean feat, so it’s always a joy to see someone thriving in that field, especially in the leadership arena. My guest on the podcast this week is Kris Stewart, CEO of QMusic, an industry association and advocacy body servicing the music industry throughout Queensland.
Kris knew from an early age that he was bound for a career in the arts, but shares that he didn’t really expect to transition from performance to management, and certainly not management of an industry association.
His experience is vast, running or producing stage and festival events throughout Australia and in New York, and along the way he’s learned a lot about ‘subtle leadership’ from watching directors at work, especially when it comes to having the patience to let people learn in their own good time. .
