Jon Stretch, on the Business of Electricity, People Power & the Importance of Having Fun.
Jon Stretch is the Managing Director and CEO of ERM Power, an ASX listed firm founded in 1980 in Brisbane. ERM is a specialist electricity retailer to large commercial and industrial customers, and is the second largest retailer in Australia to large business customers by volume of electricity sold. Before Jon joined ERM in 2015, his career took him around the world, from Melbourne to Hong Kong, Paris to Zurich. Jon has extensive experience in a range of sectors including I.T, Telecommunications and more recently, the energy sector. Jon has been a Member of the Board of Directors of Telecom New Zealand Australia, AT&T Global Services Japan, and Advantra Corporation.
Jon was born in Wollongong, the middle child of three boys. His family relocated to Victoria when Jon was eight and he spent his formative years enjoying an idyllic childhood on a property in Mornington Peninsula. He attended The Peninsula School as both a day boy and a border. Upon completing university, Jon began his career at IBM where he remained for 13 years, working his way up to becoming the General Manager of Asia Pacific Global Services. Jon has also worked for AAPT and before joining ERM Power spent four years in Switzerland as the Executive Vice President EMEA of Landis + Gyr. Jon is highly engaging and was generous in sharing his career experiences on the podcast. He is a natural people person who is excited by new ideas and while he has a number of years of experience behind him, he remains enthusiastic and passionate about his career. Jon has relocated from Europe to Brisbane with his wife and family.
