About the opportunity:
This is a pivotal and hands-on role to oversee daily operations across two sites, including project oversite, waste disposal, equipment management, and operational excellence. Managing a team of operators, you will collaborate with the environmental compliance team and ensure compliance with EPA regulations at both landfills, and play a crucial role in determining waste disposal methods, covering procedures, and overall operational strategies. You will collaborate with the engineering department to manage and oversee projects, including rock blasting and wall/road construction. You will manage and mitigate potential risks, handle logistical responsibilities, whilst balancing office obligations and travelling to the other regional site weekly. All training to obtain necessary tickets and upskilling will be provided to you prior to commencing on site. You come from an operational background in either waste management, or mining which awards you with a strong understanding of landfill operations such as stormwater management, road construction, compaction, and excavation. You may be an operations manager or stepping up from a supervisory role. Being a hands-on individual, you hold extensive operational knowledge, including equipment operation and a practical approach to drive outcomes in a broad role. You are safety focused and take compliance seriously.
You will have strong communication skills to effectively manage council, stakeholder, and community relationships, and most importantly, a down-to-earth and humble style. You are based in, or happy to relocate to Stawell or surrounds. Relocation assistance and subsidised housing available.
