- Lead multi-site fleet operations & strategy in Vic & Tas
- High impact leadership role, drive change & growth
About the Opportunity
This is a leadership role with real substance! You’ll join a business that’s already operating at scale, yet remains eager for operational excellence and poised for further evolution. With a national fleet strategy now in place, your role will be crucial in executing it across metro Melbourne, Tasmania, and key regional hubs.
You will take full ownership of the fleet and workshop function across 6 large sites, leading a team of up to 50, including 4 direct reports in fleet, equipment and admin. You will be championing a culture that puts safety, performance and people first. Reporting to the General Manager with strong vision and support, you’ll be trusted to drive alignment between corporate strategy and local execution.
As the business moves towards a more data-driven, performance-led model, you’ll have the mandate to align people, systems and strategy on the ground. The platform is in place so it’s now about lifting system maturity, strengthening compliance, improving availability, and shifting from reactive to planned maintenance.
About You
You lead by example, bringing extensive experience managing large fleets, logistics operations, and/or critical equipment. Your true strength lies in leading through others. With a calm, structured, and practical approach, you excel in overseeing large-scale operations across heavy vehicles, equipment, or relevant service functions. You have a deep understanding of asset-heavy businesses and thrive in empowering frontline leaders and workshop teams to operate more efficiently, safely, and strategically.
You have the ability to connect strategic vision with day-to-day operations and shape the culture at all levels—from the workshop floor to the executive table. You’re adept at simplifying complexity—whether regulatory, logistical, or commercial—and turning it into clear, actionable plans. You build high-performing teams quietly and effectively by listening, coaching, and instilling the right habits. You understand compliance frameworks and safety protocols, using data to drive both culture and results. Formal qualifications in engineering, trades, or logistics are helpful but not essential.
What’s on Offer
Join a stable organisation at a pivotal point in its evolution – one with national reach, essential services, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement. You’ll be trusted to lead a critical function with real impact and given the autonomy, tools, and support to embed lasting change.
This role offers variety, scale, and complexity—not to mention a highly visible seat in the business. You’ll work with engaged stakeholders who value initiative and reward outcomes. This is a rare chance to lead change without red tape or micromanagement, in an essential industry where your contribution has genuine commercial and community impact.
You’ll also benefit from career progression opportunities, real investment in safety and systems, and the chance to influence at a national level—all while being based in Melbourne.
For further information please apply via the role advert or contact Sarah Layer or Tiffany Cording with any specific questions: [email protected] or 0402 096 622. You must have unrestricted working rights in Australia to apply. As part of the process pre-employment checks will be conducted – medical, police and reference checks.
